The new Tomlinson steamer JAMES E. DAVIDSON will be brought out in the spring by Capt. F. A. Fick of Cleveland. Who sailed the SINALOA last season.

      FIRST PLUNGE OF STEEL FREIGHTERS
      Two 10,000 Ton Vessels for Great Lakes Launched at Detroit
      Detroit, March 25. - Two 10,000 steel freighters of the Great Lakes were launched in the Detroit River today. The steamer AMASA STONE for Pickands, Mather & Co., of Cleveland, was launched at the Wyandotte yard of the American Shipbuilding Company, and the steamer JAMES E. DAVIDSON, built for the Tomlinson Line, took her initial plunge at the yard of the Great Lakes Engineering Works.
The STONE is 545 feet long and the DAVIDSON 524 feet. They are the largest ships ever constructed in the vicinity of Detroit.

At Detroit on Saturday last, two big steamers were launched, the AMASA STONE, built by Pickands, Mather & Company of Cleveland, at the Wyandotte yards, and the JAMES E. DAVIDSON at the Ecorse Yards of the Great Lakes Company. The DAVIDSON will be sailed by Capt. F. A. Fick and the STONE by Capt. George B. Mallory.
