NETTLETON HITS THE WATER TODAY
Detroit, April 11. -- With the launching of the 10,000-ton freighter A. E. NETTLETON today at the Wyandotte yards of the American Shipbuilding Company, the business of the Wyandotte yards will almost reach a standstill. About 1,100 men are employed when the yard is operated at full capacity, but yesterday all the employees were laid off with the exception of a launching crew and a few men who will be retained for repair work.
At today's launching the new vessel's sponsor will be Miss Alice Nettleton, after whom the boat is named.
