The new wrecking lighter of the Great Lakes Towing Co. was launched at the Jenks Ship Building yard this afternoon. She has been named THOMAS F. NEWMAN as a compliment to the president of the company. She is 174 feet over all, 36 feet beam and 15 feet deep. She is without propelling power and will have only an auxiliary engine that will run the air compressors and handle the McMyler crane that will be on deck. On the upper deck there will be a railroad running from one end to the other over a continuous hatch 145 feet in length.
