Enquirer (Steam yacht), 26 Jan 1899

Description
Full Text

It was also learned at the Russell house that the Union Dry Dock Co. of Buffalo is to build for W. J. Conners a yacht to replace the ENQUIRER, sold to the government during the war. In the new vessel many things are to be sacrificed for speed. and she will be one of the fastest pleasure crafts in the country. The hull will be of Welland canal dimensions, about 240 feet over all and 25 feet beam. Water tube boilers will furnish steam at 250 pounds pressure to quadruple expansion engines, that are to be designed for 3,000 horse power.
