The Maritime History of the Great Lakes
Gem of the Lakes (Schooner), 1874

Description
Full Text

The schooner GEM OF THE LAKES, which has served as a lightship at Bar Point during the season, and also the Colchester Lightship, have been taken from their anchorage and laid up.
Mr. Alex. Hackett wants to say that the lightship left her post on the 25th inst., as previously announced, for the season. Remarkable as it may appear the manager of the vessel has received comparatively nothing throughout the season, and to guarantee a continuance of these services owners of vessels should see to the paying up or arrears.
