      A private dispatch from the Straits to Capt. Hand, Saturday afternoon, announced the melancholy fact that Capt. John Canfield, of the schr. WILLIAM SANDERSON, was knocked overboard by the foreboom and drowned in the Straits. The deceased's family reside on Clinton St. in this city.
