      Capt. Henry Ellis, master of the steamer AVERY, who died of Bright's disease at Detroit, Saturday, had been in the employ of Hawgood & Avery, vessel owners, for thirteen years. He was one of the first members of the Shipmasters' Excelsior Marine Benevolent Association.
