NOTE: There was no GEORGE W. Only GEORGE C. HOWE.

Without the ceremony of breaking a bottle of champagne over her bow the steel freight propeller GEORGE C. HOWE was launched yesterday afternoon at the yards of the Chicago Shipbuilding Company on the Calumet River. This is the first time within the annals of shipbuilding that a vessel has been launched on the Great Lakes without the breaking of a bottle.
