Chicago, May 20. -- The steel passenger steamship MANITOU was launched here this afternoon. She was built by the Chicago Shipbuilding Company, and will run in the Sault Ste. Marie route, stopping at Petoskey and Mackinaw Island. She will be out by the end of June. The MANITOU is 295 feet in length, 42 feet beam, and the depth to the hurricane deck 32-1/2 feet. She has a water bottom of 3-1/2 feet and extending the entire length of the ship, being divided into seven complete water-tight compartments. Her cost complete will be about $300,000.
