WHALEBACK ON ROCKS.
Cleveland, Aug. 8. -- The whaleback BAY VIEW and barges BADGER and BARAVIA are on the rocks near New London, Conn., and are full of water. The vessels, which are insured, are in a very dangerous position. A wrecking outfit has been sent to the stranded boats. The BAY VIEW was formerly the A. D. THOMPSON, the BARAVIA was the 109 and BADGER 110. Capt. B. Boutell of Bay City and others bought the BAY VIEW, BADGER and BARAVIA and nine other whalebacks from the Pittsburg Steamship Company last winter and the three vessels that are stranded went to the coast early this season. They have been operating in the coast trade.
