LAUNCH OF THE SCHOONER CLARA PARKER. -- The new schooner CLARA PARKER, the largest vessel of its kind ever built in Detroit, was launched yesterday afternoon from Jones' shipyard. The vessel did not glide so smoothly from the ways as it was expected to do, and the assistance of a tug was rendered necessary to complete the launching. We give the following relative to her dimensions: Length 175 feet overall; beam 29 feet; depth of hold, 7½ feet. She is for a three-masted, fore and after, wire rigged. Her classification is unsurpassed on the lakes as regards strength of build and well formed lines. She is owned by Caotain Thos. L. Parker, of Chicago. Capt. J. M. Jones, the builder, commenced laying the keel of this huge vessel the latter part of June. The PARKER will be commanded by Capt. Wm. Becker; 1st. officer, Mr. Elphicke, 2nd. Mr. Norris. -- Detroit Free Press, 7th.
