"The brig MCBRIDE arrived here December 4th. freighted with salt direct from Turk's Island, it passing through the St. Lawrence and Canadian waters in bond and the duties being paid here. Part, also of her cargo consists of cod-fish direct from Nova Scotia. This is the first foreign shipment ever made fron the Atlantic seaboard direct to any point on our Inland Seas. -- Chicago Journal, 6th instant

      The First Arrival --The brig McBRIDE, which arrived day before yesterday, was freighted with salt direct from Turk's Island, it passing through the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the Canadian waters in bond, the duties being paid upon it here. Part also of her cargo consisted of codfish direct from Nova Scotia.
This is the first foreign shipment ever made from the Atlantic seaboard direct to any port on our Inland Seas. - - Chicago Journal, 6th.

NOTE:-- The McBRIDE apparently came through without touching at the ports of Quebec and Montreal, both ports' newspapers were checked very thoroughly but no mention was found of her passage what-so-ever
