NEW TRADE:-- Messrs. Holmes & Co., advertise in another column, the cargo of the schooner MARIE, direct from Quebec to this port. This is the first arrival of a cargo of merchandize by this route, and it forms an era in the commerce of the west.
The same house shipped yesterday from Toledo on board the propeller EARL CATHCART, several hundred barrels of Indian meal to Messrs, Welch & Davis, Quebec. This meal was from the mills of Mr. E.W. Andrews. Thus is a trade at last opened with our Canadian neighbors, which has the advantage of paying at "both ends."
