We learn that the brig Wm. MONTEATH went ashore off Grand River, on Saturday night last, and it is feared will prove a total loss. The MONTEATH was bound from Erie to Chicago, with a cargo of coal and iron. her crew were at work yesterday taking out what they could of her cargo. She was owned by E.K. Bruce, of this city, and Capt. Dimmick, and was, we understand, insured. Assistance was sent to her yesterday.

MARINE DISASTERS.- We are informed that the brig MONTEATH, owned by E.K. Bruce, of this city, was driven ashore at Fairport in the severe gale which prevailed on this lake on Saturday Night last. She was loaded with coal and iron from Erie for Chicago, and will probably prove a total loss, except a part of the cargo. The vessel was fully insured. She was an old, but pretty substantial craft, and had been employed in the grain trade during the season, between here and the Upper Lakes. The cargo was not insured.

A Telegraphic dispatch, received last evening from the brig MONTEATH, states that that vessel will undoubtedly prove a total loss. Her decks were broken up, and her hull so damaged that but little hopes were entertained of saving her. She was insured for $6,000.
