COLLISION. - The schooner SURPRISE, Capt. Kelly, came into port on Tuesday, with her head-gear and jib-boom gone, and foremast in preventive stays. She collided with the brig YOUNG AMERICA, Capt. Campbell, on the 30th. ult., off Presque Isle, suffering the above damages herself, her foremast being knocked out of step. The YOUNG AMERICA was more seriously injured, her jib-boom, bow-sprit and foremast-head being carried away, and mainmast so much injured, that when Capt. Parrish of the schooner ECHO met her at Mackinaw it was gone, and the crew were busy rigging yards on a jury foremast. As she has not since been heard of, fears are entertained for her safety. - Chicago Union.

NOTE. - A difference of vessel names in the above extracts ? It is possible that both collisions happened, but unlikely. (SUNSHINE is likely an error)
