LOUISIANA Steamer, struck an anchor and sunk in Sandusky Bay, cargo flour, got up. Property loss $4,000 (estimated)

      We learn by a private telegraph from Sandusky, that the steamer LOUISIANA
on her down trip sunk in Sandusky harbor. The OHIO leaves this afternoon with a
steam pump to raise her.

By a despatch from the Sandusky Mirror of the 17th. inst., we learn that the
steamer LOUISIANA in going out of the bay this morning about 7 o'clock, run upon
an anchor in the channel near the mouth of the bay, jamming a hole in the bottom
so large that she sunk in a few minutes. She lies in ten feet of water, she was
loaded at this port. her cargo was worth sixteen or eighteen thousand dollars,
included, in which are nine hundred fat hogs shipped by F. Hull, six hundred
barrels of flour and a quantity of eggs and sundries shipped by J.A. Pinto,
mostly owned in Zanesville, about five thousand bales of wool and twenty bbls.

shipped by Hubbard & Co.
Water does not reach high enough to disturb the hogs, and only the flour,
corn and other freight in the hold will be injured.
The steamer BALTIC has taken her hogs and part of her freight.

The steamer LOUISIANA, which was sunk at Sandusky a few days since, has been
raised. She reached this port on Saturday, and immediately went into dry-dock for
repairs. She will be ready to resume her place in the course of a day or two.
