Propeller REPUBLIC and schooner MELROSE collided in the Detroit River, damage
to former $800, to latter $120.

      COLLISION. - Capt. D.P. Dobbins has received a letter from Detroit, which
states that the propeller REPUBLIC and schooner MELROSE came in collision in
Detroit River. The propeller had her arches badly broken, and her upper works
stove in. She would have to go into dock and repair. The schooner lost her
jibboom.
