Schooner STORM SPIRIT, cargo corn, ashore on Long Point, Lake Erie. Got off. Buffalo Morning Express
      March 11, 1861. (Casualty List, 1860)

      . . . . .

We learn from Capt. Dobbins, that the schr. STORM SPIRIT, of Chicago, bound
for this port, with a cargo of 9,500 bushels of corn, went ashore about 10 miles above
Long Point, Thursday night (7/19),. She is full of water. The vessel is not insured,
but the cargo is. The tug RELIEF was dispatched yesterday to her assistance. -

      . . . . .

The schr. STORM SPIRIT, it will be recollected, ran ashore last month, on
the Canada side, loaded with corn from Chicago. She filled and sank down, deck
under, her rail just out of the water on one side. She was stripped and abandoned
by her owners as worthless. On Thursday last one of our enterprising ship
builders, with Capt. Vannorman and the tug E.P. DORR, took Capt. Dill's steam
pump and went to attempt to recover her. They returned with the vessel here,
Friday noon, doing up a pretty prompt job, and are deserving of some credit for
the same. - Buffalo Express, Monday.
