DISASTER. -- The propeller CLEVELAND arrived this morning from Chicago, having on board the crew of the schooner AUGUSTA HANDY, which vessel was lost on Spectacle Reef, Lake Huron, on Tuesday last at 6 o'clock in the afternoon, with a cargo of sixteen thousand bushels of corn. The Captain and his crew had barely time to save themselves by the small boat, with which they pulled to Cheboygan, and from thence to Mackinaw, where they met the above propeller. The crew saved nothing of their effects. The vessel after striking the reef, pounded for a few moments, and then worked off into deep water, wher she sunk to a depth of about twenty-four fathoms. The HANDY is owned in Cleveland by R. H. Harmon. --- Detroit Tribune.
