Messrs. Lewis & Baker of this city, have now on stocks at the shipyard, a new vessel of the following dimensions:- Length of keel, 128 feet; length over all 135 feet; breadth of beam, 25 1/2 feet; depth of hold, 10 1/2 feet. She is designed for the Upper Lake trade, and is estimated to carry 16,000 bushels of wheat through the Welland Canal.
Alderman Rogers is the master builder, and he expects to get her ready for launching by the 1st of September. The name of the new vessel has not yet been suggested. She will, when finished, be a most substantial and and elegant craft.*
Mr. Avery's new vessel, the Augusta, is fast receiving her equipment, and will be ready for sea shortly. She is a tidy looking craft, and is a credit to the enterprise of Mr. Avery, her owner, and the skill of her master-builder, Mr. James Navagh.
