      January 26, 1863 (Casualty List, 1862)

      . . . . .

Strong fears are entertained on the part of her owner for the safety of the bark KATE DARLEY, which during the night of the heavy squall was seen off Point au Barque, well to the leeward, in company with other sail, but which has not since been heard of. It is feared that she has been dismasted, and left to the mercy of the storm. --- Detroit Free Press.

THE BARK KATE DARLEY. - Further and more reliable information has been received relative to the whereabouts of the bark KATE DARLEY, by the arrival last evening of the schooner WYONDOTTE, Capt. McGraw reports seeing the DARLEY at anchor five miles this side of Forestville on Lake Huron, completely dismasted, and having nothing visible above her rail except a short stub of her mainmast. She will doubtless succeed in getting towed down immediately without further loss or damage. - Detroit Free Press.
