Welland Canals Work. - Dominion Railways and Canals Department has received tenders for levelling the banks of, and filling the third Welland Canal, from its intersection with the ship canal to Carleton Street in St.Catharines. That portion of the third canal, which was opened in 1887, is no longer required for passage of ships and has been unwatered. Its right of way is therefore to be restored, more or less, to the condition existing before it was built..."
