CANADIAN LIGHT-HOUSES. -The following notices to mariners have been issued by Wm. Smith, deputy Minister of Marine and Fisheries, for the Canadian Government, dated at Ottawa August 2d and 13th, 1873: "Notice is hereby given that the following light-houses have been erected by the government of Canada on the River St. Lawrence, in the Province of Ontario, viz. : Hamilton Island, On the south side of Hamilton Island, in the County of Glengarry, Province of Ontario, latitude 45 degrees, 4 minutes, 28 seconds north, longitude 74 degrees, 12 minutes, 27 seconds west. The light is a fixed white light, elevated forty-two feet above high water, and in clear weather should be seen a distance of ten miles. The tower is a square wooden building, twenty-seven feet high, and painted white. The illuminating apparatus is catoptric. The light was first shown 24th July last. Glengarry, or Stone Point House, on Stone House Point, in the County of Glengarry, Province of Ontario, latitude 45 degrees, 3 minutes and 32 seconds north, longitude 74 degrees, 38 minutes and 45 seconds west. The light is a fixed white light, elevated forty-two feet above high water, and in clear weather should be seen a distance of ten miles. The tower is a square wooden building, twenty-seven feet high, with dwelling for keeper attached, and painted white. The illuminating apparatus is catoptric. The light was first shown on the 25th of July last. At MacKenzie's Wharf, Presque Isle, Owen Sound, Georgian Bay, Ontario, latitude 44 degrees, 41 minutes, 30 seconds north, longitude 80 degrees, 53 minutes and 40 seconds west, the light is a fixed white light, elevated thirty-five feet above high water and, in clear weather should be seen at a distance of twelve miles. The tower is a square wooden building, twenty-seven feet high, and painted white. The illuminating apparatus is catoptric. The light was first shown 11th of July last.
