HE WILL DESIGN THE PANAMA CANAL LOCKS

When it was decided that the lock type of canal would be built at Pananma, Supt. Joseph Ripley, of the government locks at Sault Ste. Marie,was called to Washington for conference. He has accepted the work of designing the locks for the great canal which the United States will build across the isthmus. Mr. Ripley is now on his return to the Soo, and is expected to leave there to assume his new duties as soon as matters can be arranged.
