The schr. GOV. HUNT sunk near Cleveland on Monday and will probably be a total loss. She ranked B2, valued at $2,500 and was owned in Cleveland.

      Sunday morning (Aug.15), the schr. GOV. HUNT, which left Cleveland for Buffalo on Friday, struck a sunken rock about 12 miles off Erie, and went to pieces in a few minutes. A heavy gale was blowing, but the crew reached the shore in their boat. The vessel was owned in Cleveland, valued at $6,500 and insured for $4,500. The cargo was 995 barrels naptha and 362 of oil. 50 have so far ben recovered.

The schr. GOVERNOR HUNT, which recently went ashore, will be a total loss. She was owned by H.J. Webb, of Cleveland, and we understand that the vessel was fully insured. The underwriters have been notified to take charge of the oil with which she was loaded.

On Saturday morning the tug S.S. COE arrived at Cleveland having in tow from the wreck of the schr. GOV. HUNT, loaded with petrolium oil, which had been recovered. All the oil on board the vessel when the disaster occurred has been saved in good condition. The vessel is a total loss.
