We understand that the Hon. John Hamilton's new steam boat, the Ontario, intended to overcome the rapids of the Long Sault, was tried last week between Niagara and Queenston, and ran the distance, 14 miles there and back, in 43 minutes. She went up in 19 1/2 minutes. It is fully expected that she will conquer the rapids, and the trial will soon be made.
