The M'Kinley Bill
Collector Lyman Says It Will Go Into Effect To-morrow Night.

Collector Lyman says that the new tariff bill will go into effect at 12 o'clock to-morrow night and that all barley received after that hour will be taxed 30 cents a bushel. Importers are as busy as bees and will get over every possible bushel between this and 12 o'clock to-morrow night.

For the past twenty four hours, ending at 10 A.M. to-day, there was received at this port over three hundred thousand bushels and a large fleet is on the way with more. An importer informed a Palladium reporter to-day that a few cargoes would be received between now and the close of navigation in spite of the McKinley bill, but no such amount as came in last season.
