AZOF Schooner, ashore near Toronto, Lake Ontario; got off.
Marine Disasters on the Western
Lakes during 1869, Capt. J.W. Hall
Toronto, Nov. 18. -- A violent gale set in last night and has continued throughout the day. The following marine disasters are reported :
Schooners MONTEAGLE from Toledo to Ogdensburg, loaded with lumber, ashore at Point Peter, near Picton. She will probably go to pieces.
Schooner AZOF, ashore at Wellington Square and is breaking up.
Schooner GARIBALDI ashore at Minico.
Schooner ECHO beached off ther Queen's Wharf, Toronto, and another vessel dragging her anchor and likely to go ashore. Captains report it the roughest night they ever experienced on the lake.
