The schooner KITTIE GRANT of Pentwater with 4 aboard is presumed lost on Lake Michigan Wednesday night. She was bound from Pentwater to Chicago with shingles.

GRANT, KITTIE Schooner. Home port, Saugatuck. On Oct. 7th. 1884 the little schooner left Pentwater for Chicago, with a cargo of shingles. That night a terrible gale sprung up from the northeast. Several days later the schooner was found floating about the lake, bottom upwards. Her crew of four men perished. Loss to cargo $1,600. Loss to hull $1,000. Insurance Nil.
