GRUMMOND, GRACE Steamer. Home port, Chicago. On Nov. 5, 1884, vessel damaged by fire at South Haven, Lake Michigan. Damage to vessel $8,000. Insurance $10,000. No cargo.

Three years ago the side wheel steamer GRACE GRUMMOND, running in the passenger trade out of Chicago, was partially destroyed by fire. Her hull is iron and she is now being converted into a lumber barge at Milwaukee. When ready for sea the GRUMMOND will be a consort of the steamer NEW ERA
