Watertown, July 8. -- A Canadian schooner, name unknown, was blown ashore near Sackets Harbor last night in the gale that raged on lake Ontario and is rapidly going to pieces. The life saving crew from Big Sandy has been summoned.

      THE JAMES G. BLAINE, A TOTAL LOSS.
Oswego, July 8. -- The barge JAMES G. BLAINE parted a towline in the heavt sea yesterday and grounded east of the harbor. The BLAINE is breaking up and vessel and cargo will be a total loss. The BLAINE was formerly the schooner PENSAUTE [sic] A famous ship in the days of sailing craft.

BLAINE, JAMES G. Schooner Barge. U. S. No. 20195. Built 1867 of 555 Gross Tons. July 8, 1908 Schooner stranded at Oswego, Lake Ontario, and became a total loss. All seven persons on board were rescued.
