We learn that the stm. INDIANA lying in the harbor at Conneaut, was burned to the water's edge on Thursday night (Nov.30.) last. Whether the fire was occasioned by accident or was the work of an incendiary, we have not yet ascertained. Messrs. Lake & Carpenter, we believe, were the principal owners of the boat. On them the loss will mainly fall.

In the evening, we recieved the following despatch from Erie, to which we are indebted to the operators on Speed's Western line. Passengers by stage from Conneaut reported in Erie this afternoon that the steamer INDIANA was burned to the water's edge last night about half past eleven o'clock - supposed be be the work of incendiaries.

Steamer INDIANA -- Mr. Townsend, formerly of the steamer INDIANA, just returned from Conneaut, informs us that the fire occurred about 11 o'clock Thursday night. He has no doubt it was the work of an incendiary. The wind was from the north, and as she was lying in Conneaut harbor with her bow to the South, the fire made a clear sweep, buring in the interior below the waters edge so that the water rushed in and sunk her. The machinery, Mr. Townsend says, fell with a tremendous crash breaking and destroying the most valuable portions, and is hardly worth fishing up except for old iron.
