The steamer COMET, which reached Toronto on Monday morning, got aground on the Ducks, about 30 miles west of Kingston, and fearing a storm might come on threw overboard 4,000 or 5,000 pounds worth of goods. The weather, however, kept calm - the steamer was enabled to resume her voyage, and arrived safely at Toronto - minus the goods. --- Examiner

The gale of Friday last has been destructive of much life and property on Lake Ontario. The schooner CANADA, belonging to Kingston, and bound from Oswego to Port Hope, went ashore near that place - six lives lost. She had a full cargo of salt, which with the vessel, is a total loss.
