      . . . . .

Yeserday morning a schooner was seen making her course towards land about 3 miles below Barcelona Harbor. She was evidently in distress and shortly after being discovered, struck on a bar half a mile from the shore some of the residents in the neighborhood immediately boarded her and found her to be the schr. MARTHA FREME, Buffalo, and a total wreck. Two dead bodies lay upon the deck, much bruised and mutilated. The schooner was doubtless wrecked during the severe gale on Sunday afternoon. She was waterlogged, her mainmast gone and her cabin carried away. She had been loaded with staves and probably had taken in her freight at Erie. It is supposed that all hands, numbering perhaps from 7 to 9, have perished. The bodies discovered on deck were those of young men, each apparently about 25 years of age, and when found, one corpse yet limber and warm, the other had been dead for some hours. The unfortunate men had evidently taken to the rigging to escape the sea, and had been beaten and bruised by the swinging yards until struck powerless on the deck. How long they remained in their fearful position and how great their sufferings their bereaved and sorrowing friends can never
know. The grave has set its seas upon the tale. - Westfield Messenger.
