We are glad to learn that measures are being adopted to prevent laborers upon the Lachine Canal from being brought in to disturb the peace during the election. We understand that Mr. Killaly has issued an order that during the time the election is pending, the muster rolls of the several working gangs are to be called every two hours, and any man absent will be immediately discharged, and never again employed upon the government works. - Montreal Times
