The burning of the Canadian steambarge NORMAN wipes out the last of the NORMAN Line from the lakes. The schooner NORMAN went ashore on Hogg Island Reef, and the American steambarge NORMAN went to pieces at Pentwater.

A dispatch from the underwriters in Chicago announces the schooner NORMAN, of this port, lying at anchor under Hog Island [near the wrecked schooner J.I. CASE] with six feet of water in her hold and leaking at the rate of three inches an hour. She has cordwood from Traverse bay to Chicago. Captain and crew are safe. It is feared vessel and cargo will prove total losses, as the weather continues very bad. The NORMAN measures 252 tons, and was built in 1848 and rebuilt in 1875. Her rating is B 1½, and her value $4,500. hanson, of Chicago, is the owner. She is partly insured.

      A dispatch from captain John Prindiville announces that he has rescued the schooner NORMAN from Hog Island and that she is at Traverse City. The tug ARCTIC was used. The norman will be taken to Grand Haven of Manitowoc for repairs.

The Tug ARCTIC arrived with the Schooner NORMAN, which she pulled off the beach at Traverse Bay. On her trip down she was caught out in two storms, but made Frankfort and Ludington with her tow safely. - Grand Haven Report
