Rideau Canal - A new tariff of tolls for this canal has been published. The effect of which is materially to increase the expense of transport through it. We find some of the Kingston papers making serious complaints. The consequences of the measure no doubt will be to bring back a portion of the forwarding business to the St. Lawrence; which, now that the canal at Long Sault is opened, will be carried on at a much cheaper rate than formerly. We hope, next season, to see the forwarding establishments of this place and Prescott once more assuming that activity which they formerly displayed. - Brock. Rec.
