The difficulty attending the vessel BURNSIDE's release (ashore at Bois Blanc Island) is proving far more serious than we were first given to understand. In the effort towards pulling her off, thay are destroying much of her outfit. This will require her to return to port for repairs before she can proceed on her voyage.

The barkentine GEN. BURNSIDE, laden with timber while enroute to Lake Erie in tow of the tug J.R. NOYES was got upon the rocks at the head of Bois Blanc Island on Sunday night and up to the latest advice was not off. In the meantime several large tugs have pulled on her, but for no purpose. A considerable portion of her cargo, it is thought, will have to be lightered before she can be floated.

      . . . . .

The bark GEN. BURNSIDE succeeded in getting afloat shortly before noon yesterday. Taking everything into consideration and the circumstances of her getting ashore, her misfortune has been one of the most serious that has happened on the river this present season. She will require only limited repairs before proceeding on her voyage.

The situation of this vessel already reported in trouble at Bois Blanc Island, Detroit River is unchanged, and she is not off as stated. She has sustained serious injuries from the pulling of tugs, which has been added to since first heard from. The work of discharging her timber is progressing, nearly all of which require removal.
