      Casualty List for 1874
      Chicago Inter-Ocean, Dec. 25, 1874

      . . . . .

Dispatches received yesterday report quite a number of vessels ashore at different points. Most of then were driven ashore during the gale, but the dense fog now hanging over the lake was the cause of several accidents. Advice from Kingston report the stmbs. NORMAN and LOTHAIR, and consort, and the schrs. PARAGON and SEABIRD, ashore at Amherst Island. The schrs. ARIEL and CHARM, loaded with barley, are ashore at Indian Pt. The prop. STANLEY and the schr. CARLTON went ashore on Amherst Island Tuesday night. The scow-schr. IONA, ashore at Presque Island loaded with barley, will likely prove a total loss.
