Fredonia, Sept.17
We have been informed that the schooner ENTERPRISE was driven ashore on the Canada side, during the severe gale of wind, on the 7th. inst -- that nearly or quite all the cargo was lost -- that two families on board lost everything they had, except what clothes they had on -- and that the vessel was so much damaged as to be unfit for repair, and was to be stripped and burnt to procure the irons.
During the same gale the schooner HANNAH, of Dunkirk, Captain Fox, was driven aground at Erie, where she remained three or four days before she could be got off. She sustained no very serious injury.

      . . . . .

In a violent gale on Sunday last (Sept. 7), the schr. HANNAH, Capt. Fox, lying at anchor off the Lighthouse, parted her cable, and in attempting to run into the basin for the protection from the wind, grounded on the bar, where she still lies. Capt. Budd of the Navy, and some of our citizens, have kindly tendered their assistance, and it is hoped they will soon get her afloat. A similar instance of generosity was shown by the same gentlemen in relieving the schr. GEN. HUNTINGTON from the same situation a shore time since. This argues strongly the necessity of deepening the channel at the entrance of our harbor.
