Ghent (Schooner), overboard, 24 Jul 1816

Description
Full Text

Arrived on Wednesday, U. S. Schooner GHENT, Lieut. Comdt. Conklin, two days from Buffalo. Just before entering port, a man was sent aloft to clear some rigging, and in performing the duty fell overboard. Every exertion to save him proved ineffectual. In falling from the mast head, as we are informed, his body struck against the bulwarks, which is supposed to have occasioned his death.
