SHIPWRECK - NARROW ESCAPE OF THE CREW. - The schooner GEM OF THE LAKES, on Tuesday night, deposited her cargo in Lake St. Clair, and narrowly escaped drowning the crew. She took on a cargo of spokes at Baptiste Creek for this port, and shortly after taking her departure, sprung a leak and rolled over. The crew clung to the wreck for twenty-four hours and finally succeeded in reaching the shore on pieces of the wreck, having been forty-eight hours without food. The vessel, it is though, will be recovered. - Detroit Free Press, 17th.
