A WRECK. - Yesterday about 2 o'clock, the schooner PURITAN, Capt. Heath from Toledo to this port, in attempting to make the harbor during the strong gale, missed the channel and struck on the upper end of breakwater, breaking her back and since then has gone to pieces. Her cargo consisted of 40,000 feet of black walnut lumber, and seven black walnut logs, containing 433 feet, all consigned to Messrs. Scatchard & Belton. She was a very old boat and the probility is there is no insurance, as one of our leading insurance firms lately refused to take the risk.
