Collision Between A Canadian Gunboat And A U.S. Revenue Cutter.
The Cutter Injured And The Gunboat Made To Surrender.
There was a very suggestive collision on the river, Tuesday night, between the Canadian tug W.T. ROBB, which, it will be remembered, figured as a gunboat in the late Fenian war, and the United States Revenue Cutter, COMMODORE PERRY, which resulted in some damage to the wheel-house of the United States steamer, and a demand for reparation from Capt. Robb of the offending vessel. The ROBB was moving down the stream with considerable speed, and the PERRY not moving out of the way, was run into and damaged as stated above. The ROBB was promptly ordered to heave to, and before she could be released her commanding officer was required to enter into proper acknowledgments, by Capt. Ottinger, to indemnify the Government for the injuries inflicted. Capt. Robb having complied with the terms required, his vessel was allowed to proceed on her way.
