The Maritime History of the Great Lakes
Frank W. Wheeler (Propeller), damaged being launched, 1 Jun 1887

Description
Full Text

The new steambarge F.W. WHEELER, recently launched at Bay City, has been placed in drydock here (Detroit), to have the damage to the stern, sustained at the time of launching, repaired. The damage is much more serious than at first thought. Her stern post and keel are broken and the stern badly damaged all over. She will probably be released from the dock on Friday.
