Avon (Propeller), U105733, collision, 17 Nov 1887
- Full Text
Buffalo.---On arriving in port last Thursday night the propeller AVON, of the Union Line, struck the schooner MIDDLESEX as she lay loal-laden at the lighthouse pier and crushed her badly on the starboard side from forefast to mainmast. She was not damaged so but that temporary repairs enabled her to make her trip to Milwaukee, however, and a suryey was held, fixing the damages at $450, which will probably fall on the AVON, though the accident was caused by a current or sudden change in the wind.
