St. Lawrence Canal - The Board of Works commences operations on the Beauharnois shore, on Monday, July 4. The labor consequent upon the construction of such a canal, must necessarily furnish employment to a numerous body of workmen; and we venture to state, that relief to this valuable character never was more needed than at the present moment - many of the emigrants recently arrived, being in a state of destitution. - Times
