MARINE DISASTER.---LOSS OF LIFE.---The steamer LOUISIANA was wind-bound
yesterday morning at Grand River. She left about 5 P.M. with a large load of passengers. When off Ashtabula, her steam chimney burst, severely scalding all the firemen, three of whom are dead, and the other two are so dreadfully injured that they are not expected to live. Both the engineers were severely scalded, but are expected to recover. One passenger only was slightly hurt. The steamer MICHIGAN came promptly to the relief of the disabled boat. The former towed her to Conneaut, where she now lies. The SOUTHERNER, Capt. Edmunds started for her, but seeing the MICHIGAN alongside, and ascertaining that the
LOUISIANA had sufficient assistance, continued on her course. This was probably unknown to the passengers, or the resolution censuring the captain of the SOUTHERNER, would not have been made.

The names of the persons who lost their lives by the explosion on board the steamer LOUISIANA, are Richard Williams, Seaman Appleman, Julius Schmidt and Loomis Wiesser. The recovery of George Merrit, who was badly scalded at the same time, is considered doubtful.
