The Maritime History of the Great Lakes
Canada (Bark), lightning, 1 May 1854

Description
Full Text

The barque CANADA arrived yesterday. She had a narrow escape in the St. Clair River. Her foremast was struck by lightning, which passed down burning her sails which were furled, and played some singular antics on deck, skipping around along her chain cables and biting each link as it passed. ----- Chicago Journal.
