The schooner SPARTAN, of Milwaukee, arrived at Chicago from Grand River, having
during the late gale lost her boat; mainsail, jib, split foresail, and had her deck load of lumber washed overboard.

      Thursday, October 12, 1854

NOTE:--an account almost identical carried Oct.16th. but calling the vessel the SPARTA
